ALTEN UK is supporting major programmes within the defence and infrastructure sectors and is looking for a Structural Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on complex building and structural design projects in the Nuclear sector. This role will involve contributing to the detailed design and assessment of safety-critical structures, supporting highly regulated engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the detailed structural design of buildings within a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Prepare engineering calculation notes and technical substantiation documents
  • Analyse and review technical documentation, drawings and engineering specifications
  • Carry out reinforced concrete checks in accordance with relevant standards and codes
  • Design using Eurocode and British Standards
  • Support structural integrity and safety assessments for complex infrastructure projects
  • Collaborate with civil, structural and geotechnical engineering teams

Qualifications Required Skills:

  • Experience within structural, civil or mechanical analysis engineering
  • Structural Design UK experience
  • Understanding of reinforced concrete structures
  • Use of Eurocode designing industrial structures such as bridges, mines, hospitals, water plants or nuclear plants
  • Experience working within highly regulated industries such as defence, nuclear, aerospace or infrastructure is advantageous

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards
  • Experience within safety-critical engineering environments
  • Understanding of structural dynamics
  • Previous experience supporting defence or nuclear programmes
