As a System Engineer, you will join our team in Peterborough to support our activities within the Automotive sector. You will join our Electrical Systems & Advanced Machine Control team. The project will focus on the design, integration, and lifecycle management of complex automotive systems, including power electronics and high‑voltage subsystems that underpin next‑generation machine control technologies. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping systems architecture, ensuring requirements are fully defined, integrated, and validated across the full product lifecycle. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical background who thrives at the intersection of disciplines and vehicle‑level integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, capture, and manage system and sub‑system engineering requirements, ensuring full traceability
  • Lead system and component‑level integration across electrical, mechanical, and software domains
  • Support integration of automotive power electronics, including inverters, converters, and high‑voltage (HV) components
  • Deliver verification and validation activities in alignment with the V‑Model / V‑Cycle
  • Create, manage, and track Design Verification Plans (DVPs) and associated test activities
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional engineering teams and suppliers to support system integration and issue resolution
  • Track and manage integration tasks, deliverables, and milestones across the development lifecycle
  • Ensure designs adhere to automotive safety, regulatory, and quality standards

Required Skills:

  • 5–9 years’ professional experience in Systems Engineering or Automotive System Integration
  • Strong understanding of vehicle integration processes and component‑level integration
  • Experience working within automotive development frameworks and the full system development lifecycle (V‑Cycle)
  • Proven experience in requirements management, preferably using DOORS
  • Experience creating and managing DVPs, verification, and validation activities
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink
  • Ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and external suppliers in a complex engineering environment

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience
  • Previous experience in Automotive, Aerospace, Defence, or other safety‑critical industries
  • Exposure to high‑voltage systems, power electronics, or machine control platforms

Additional Information:

This role will require you to have or be willing to go through Security Clearance. As part of the onboarding process candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard; details of the evidence required to apply may be found on the government website Gov.UK.
