Job Description
ALTEN UK is seeking
Power Supply Electronics Design Engineers to support a high-profile engineering programme within the defence and advanced technology sector.
This role will focus on the design, development, analysis, simulation, and testing of power conversion electronics, supporting the delivery of complex electronic systems from concept through to prototype validation.
On Site: Full onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop power electronics hardware and PCB assemblies.
- Produce schematics, PCB layouts, and associated design documentation using Altium Designer.
- Perform circuit simulation, analysis, and design verification activities.
- Conduct FMEA and support technical risk assessments.
- Support environmental, EMC, and functional testing activities.
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles throughout the development process.
- Support prototype build, debugging, and validation activities.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with technical leads and cross-functional engineering teams to drive design solutions.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Strong industry experience in electronics design, with a focus on power electronics.
- Proven experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Experience with circuit simulation and electronic analysis tools.
- Understanding of power conversion technologies and electronic system design.
- Experience supporting prototype testing, verification, and validation activities.
- Knowledge of EMC, environmental testing, and regulatory compliance considerations.
- Experience conducting engineering analysis and FMEA activities.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- A
- Bachelor’s or
- Master’s degree in
Engineering , or equivalent military experience .
- Experience developing AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion solutions.
- Familiarity with LTspice, Math CAD, or equivalent engineering tools.
- Experience within highly regulated engineering sectors such as defence, aerospace, rail, marine, or industrial systems.
- Knowledge of high-reliability electronic design practices.
- Experience supporting products through the full development lifecycle.
