Location: Milton Keynes (on-site, 5 days per week)

Join ALTEN, a leading engineering consultancy partnering with some of the UK's most advanced engineering programmes. We are supporting a cutting-edge project requiring the design and development of mechanical enclosures for high-performance electronic systems.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be working on-site with a forward-thinking engineering team, contributing from initial concept through to validation. This is an opportunity to get hands-on with full-lifecycle design in a highly technical, quality-focused environment.

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of enclosures for complex electronic products.
  • Produce and maintain detailed engineering documentation, drawings, and BOMs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with electrical and systems engineering.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design within an NPI environment.
  • Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS (or similar 3D CAD tools).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials selection, and manufacturing techniques (e.g. CNC, injection moulding, sheet metal).
  • Ability to generate clear, concise technical documentation and engineering reports.
