As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our Loughborough team to support test rig programmes, including the design, modelling, and delivery of jigs, fixtures, and prototypes. You will work closely with project teams to ensure that test setups are fully functional, safe, and optimised to support programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Designing, modelling, and developing mechanical components, jigs, fixtures, and prototypes to support test programmes.
- Collaborating with project teams to translate technical requirements into practical test solutions.
- Using SolidWorks and HyperWorks to create detailed designs, assemblies, technical drawings, and perform structural simulations.
- Supporting the end-to-end delivery of mechanical test assets from concept through build, installation, and validation.
- Applying mechanical engineering principles to ensure durability, functionality, and safety of test rigs.
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Contributing to continuous improvement in test rig design methodologies and documentation processes.
Qualifications Required Skills:
- Mechanical design experience, preferably using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Background in mechanical engineering, project engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience designing and delivering prototypes, jigs, fixtures, or test rigs.
- Ability to take a design concept from initial idea through to implementation and validation.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Experience in test rig design and development within automotive, aerospace, or defence sectors.
- Understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and material selection.
- Exposure to project delivery methodologies and engineering documentation standards.
