ALTEN Ltd is looking for a highly capable Integration Design Engineer to support our Gosport team in working on an advanced naval systems integration programme. You will be at the forefront of designing and validating complex installations for mission-critical platforms. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical documentation and cross-discipline collaboration—ideal for an engineer eager to influence both design and delivery in a live defence environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct installation site surveys and generate detailed survey reports to support the development of guidance documentation.
- Produce high-quality Installation Guidance Packages, Design Specifications, Interface Specifications and Engineering Change Requests.
- Create mechanical and electrical design drawings using AutoCAD and potentially Autodesk Inventor.
- Support trials and inspections related to integration activities, compiling and presenting findings.
- Ensure compliance with British Standards, Defence Standards, IEE Regulations, and AS9100 processes.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to maintain Time, Cost and Quality (TCQ) targets and contribute to continuous process improvement.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in systems integration, installation design, or defence engineering.
- Strong knowledge of naval or air platform systems and experience producing technical design packages for MOD or defence-related programmes.
- Proficient in AutoCAD for producing both mechanical and electrical design drawings (Inventor experience desirable).
- Familiarity with configuration control, engineering change processes, and safety case generation.
- Experience writing and managing technical documentation to UK defence standards.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, safety, and project teams.
