As a Performance Dynamics Engineer, you will play a key role in the analysis, simulation, and optimisation of landing gear systems throughout the product development lifecycle. You will be responsible for developing computational models, conducting dynamic performance assessments, and supporting the validation of engineering solutions through simulation and testing activities.

Working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, you will collaborate closely with design, stress, test, and systems engineering teams to ensure technical excellence, programme delivery, and compliance with customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop computational models and perform dynamic simulations of landing gear systems.
  • Calculate static and dynamic loads to support design and certification activities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and frequency response analyses.
  • Perform stability, shimmy, modal, vibration, and failure case analyses.
  • Correlate, validate, and maintain simulation models against test data and operational performance.
  • Define and validate performance and dynamics requirements for landing gear systems.
  • Prepare simulation plans, analysis methodologies, and pass/fail acceptance criteria.
  • Optimise engineering solutions in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Define test requirements and support the analysis and interpretation of test results.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are delivered in line with programme schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in dynamics, performance analysis, simulation, or mechanical systems engineering within a highly regulated engineering environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with MSC ADAMS is mandatory.
  • Experience developing, analysing, and validating engineering models and simulations.
  • Knowledge of dynamic behaviour, system performance, load analysis, and engineering validation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, AMESim, or equivalent simulation software.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical data and provide practical engineering recommendations.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience within the aerospace, defence, automotive, rail, or other complex engineering sectors.
  • Knowledge of landing gear systems or other safety-critical mechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting testing, verification, and validation activities.
  • Understanding of system integration and requirements management.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, certification processes, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing engineering consultancy environment.
