ALTEN is seeking experienced Systems Engineers with a focus on fuel systems to support the delivery of cutting-edge technologies on a long-term UK aerospace defence programme. Working within a high-performance environment, you’ll lead the development and integration of complex systems that underpin the operational effectiveness of the UK’s fast jet capability.

This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of combat aircraft engineering, where your technical leadership will shape critical mission systems on an internationally recognised platform.

Location: Manchester (Hybrid – occasional on-site presence)

  • MATLAB/Simulink to assess performance and support decision-making.
  • Analyse interface behaviour between fuel systems and wider aircraft sub-systems.
  • Deliver engineering work packages independently, with minimal customer input or supervision.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, ideally within aerospace, defence, or other regulated sectors.
  • Strong grasp of requirements engineering, modelling, and systems verification methods.
  • Able to operate with autonomy in high-integrity engineering environments.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or similar). A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is advantageous.
  • Alternatively, demonstrable applied systems engineering experience from the UK Armed Forces is equally valued.
