As an Electronics Project Manager, you will join the Crawley team to support our activities within the defence, maritime and mission-critical systems sector. Working as a consultant for ALTEN, you will lead the delivery of complex electronics and hardware development programmes supporting advanced autonomous platforms, sensor systems and command-and-control technologies. This role sits at the interface of engineering delivery, systems integration and stakeholder coordination, ensuring projects are delivered on time, to cost and to quality across international teams.

Location: Crawley
On Site: Hybrid (3 days per week on site)
Clearance: Full right to work in the UK & SC Clearance MUST be obtained/held.
Experience Level: 5-10 Years

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage electronics and hardware engineering work packages, ensuring delivery against programme milestones, cost and quality targets.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams, including systems, electronics and software specialists across UK and international locations.
  • Monitor and control hardware engineering activities remotely, ensuring technical progress, risk management and issue resolution.
  • Plan, track and report project performance, managing schedules, dependencies and resource allocation using structured project controls.
  • Act as the primary interface between engineering teams and stakeholders, translating technical progress into clear project status updates.
  • Support continuous improvement of delivery processes, tools and reporting to improve programme efficiency and predictability.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience managing electronics or hardware engineering projects within defence, aerospace, maritime or safety-critical environments.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary and international engineering teams, including remote collaboration.
  • Solid understanding of systems engineering and electronics development lifecycles.
  • Experience using project management and workflow tools, including PALMA (essential).
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and technical reporting capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
  • 5-10 years' experience in electronics, hardware or systems project delivery.
  • Experience working within regulated or high-integrity engineering environments.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Jira or similar agile/project tracking tools.
  • Exposure to autonomous systems, sensor technologies or mission management platforms.
  • Background supporting defence or mission-critical programmes with distributed teams.
