We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to play a key role in delivering advanced electrical systems within a complex engineering programme. This is a technically challenging position offering the opportunity to take ownership of design activities, influence project direction, and work across a multidisciplinary environment on high-integrity systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the design and development of electrical systems and components for complex engineering projects
  • Produce and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and associated technical documentation using tools such as EPLAN and Teamcenter
  • Ensure designs meet all applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Oversee system integration, verification, and validation activities to ensure performance and reliability targets are met
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting best practices and engineering excellence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across mechanical, systems, software, and manufacturing disciplines
  • Support supplier engagement, including technical reviews, selection processes, and stakeholder collaboration
  • Investigate technical issues through root cause analysis, implementing effective corrective solutions
  • Contribute to project planning, scheduling, cost estimation, and risk management

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in a senior electrical engineering or design role within complex or regulated industries
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar, and familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter
  • Experience designing power distribution systems, control systems, and embedded electrical systems
  • Solid understanding of relevant engineering standards (e.g. IEC, BS, IEEE)
  • Ability to lead technical reviews and make critical engineering decisions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying and resolving design issues
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience within defence, maritime, aerospace, or other safety-critical environments
  • Background in system integration within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Exposure to full product lifecycle development, from concept through to delivery
