As a HIL Test & EV Charging Systems Engineer, you will join our Automotive team supporting the development and validation of next-generation off-board EV charging systems and automotive battery technologies. You will take ownership of off-board EV charging equipment, including ICCPD systems and vehicle interface functions, ensuring robust design, validation, and compliance across the full product lifecycle. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong electrical, systems, and validation experience, who enjoys working at the intersection of design, testing, supplier coordination, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering ownership of off-board EV charging systems, including ICCPD and vehicle interface functions.
- Define and manage system validation requirements, ensuring full design verification coverage.
- Deliver CAD release, validation sign-off, and technical documentation in line with gateway and product development processes.
- Ensure compliance with UK & European standards including IEC 62752, BS EN 61851-1:2019, BS EN 61439-7, CE and EMC requirements.
- Define and manage system safety architecture, including RCD selection (Type A / Type B) and smart charging features such as load management and demand-side response.
- Coordinate supplier development activities including design reviews, DFMEA, DFM, and validation test reports.
- Support electromechanical packaging design using CATIA V5 and manage EBOM updates within PDM systems in line with BS 8888 standards.
- Maintain product certification and compliance matrices for global market requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, systems, validation, and suppliers to ensure successful integration and delivery.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Experience in HIL testing, validation, or systems integration within automotive or EV environments.
- Strong understanding of EV battery systems or off-board EV charging systems.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 and PDM/PLM systems.
- Knowledge of automotive electrical systems, safety architecture, and EMC standards.
- Experience in design validation, test planning, and technical documentation.
- Strong supplier and stakeholder management capability.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering environments.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Experience with ICCPD systems or smart charging infrastructure.
- Exposure to HIL testing platforms and EV validation environments.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, system safety engineering, and regulatory certification processes.
