Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a
Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join a leading manufacturing organisation in Coventry.
Working closely with a small portfolio of key suppliers, you will be responsible for driving quality improvements, managing supplier performance, and ensuring manufactured electrical components meet the required quality, delivery, and compliance standards.
- This role would suit an experienced SQE with either
- 4–6 years of strong supplier quality experience or a more seasoned professional with
8+ years' experience in manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of critical suppliers.
- Conduct supplier assessments, audits, and performance reviews.
- Drive supplier quality improvement initiatives and corrective action plans.
- Investigate supplier non-conformances and lead root cause analysis activities.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality, engineering, and manufacturing requirements.
- Monitor supplier KPIs relating to quality, delivery, and performance.
- Support new product introduction and supplier qualification activities.
- Work closely with Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams.
- Challenge and influence suppliers to improve performance and resolve issues effectively.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer, Supplier Development Engineer, or similar.
- Background in manufacturing environments.
- Experience working with electrical or electronic components .
- Strong understanding of supplier quality management and improvement methodologies.
- Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence and challenge suppliers whilst maintaining positive working relationships.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability.
Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or
- Master’s degree in
Engineering , or equivalent military experience .
- Eligible for UK security clearance
Desirable Skills
- ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems.
- Supplier auditing experience.
- 8D, RCCA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP methodologies.
- Electronics, electrical manufacturing, aerospace, defence, or high-specification manufacturing environments.
- Lead Auditor qualification.
