As a Mechanical Systems Installation Engineer, you will join our Bristol team to support our activities within the Aerospace sector. This role will place you at the centre of systems installation design and integration, working on complex platforms that demand innovative solutions. You will be responsible for delivering detailed design, ensuring compliance with safety and certification requirements, and coordinating across multiple engineering functions. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver detailed Mechanical Systems Installation (MSI) design for hydraulic, fuel, pneumatic, and electrical systems across aerospace wing programmes.
- Provide technical leadership and act as a point of authority for installation design activities.
- Serve as a Design Signatory, ensuring compliance with design, safety, and certification standards.
- Lead system integration activities, ensuring that structures, systems, and components are correctly aligned and meet programme requirements.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external partners to achieve integrated design solutions.
- Ensure manufacturing readiness by aligning design outputs with production and assembly requirements.
- Manage design changes, modifications, and concession activities to maintain delivery and technical compliance.
Qualifications Required Skills
- Experience in mechanical assembly and installation of aerospace systems or components.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with aerospace installation standards, procedures, and tooling.
- Ability to work in a highly regulated aerospace environment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills during installation and commissioning.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary collaboration (electrical, systems, and structural teams).
- Knowledge of fasteners, fittings, and mechanical joining techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and adherence to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Proven experience in mechanical installation or assembly within aerospace or a high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with quality and safety standards relevant to aerospace (e.g., EASA, ISO, AS9100).
Desirable Skills
- Experience working on Aerospace platforms or civil/military aircraft assemblies.
- Knowledge of jig, tooling, and precision measurement techniques.
- Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical interfaces in aerospace systems.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or Continuous Improvement practices.
- Experience using digital inspection tools or 3D measurement devices.
