ALTEN UK is supporting major engineering and infrastructure programmes within the defence and nuclear sectors and is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join a multidisciplinary delivery team. This role is ideal for someone with a technical civil engineering background who is looking to develop their career within project management and programme delivery while remaining involved in engineering-focused projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the Delivery Manager with coordination of civils project activities
- Assist with project planning, action tracking and delivery monitoring
- Monitor progress of engineering deliverables and project milestones
- Draft and manage non-technical project documentation, reports and meeting minutes
- Coordinate actions and follow-ups across multidisciplinary teams
- Support risk, issue and dependency tracking activities
- Work closely with technical teams to understand civils-related topics and project impacts
- Assist with stakeholder communication and project governance activities
- Background in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Experience supporting engineering, infrastructure or construction projects
- Strong organisational and coordination skills
- Ability to understand and communicate technical civils topics
- Experience tracking actions, deliverables and project progress
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Previous experience in a Project Coordinator, Project Support or Assistant Project Manager role
- Experience within defence, nuclear, rail or infrastructure sectors
- Familiarity with project planning or tracking tools such as MS Project, Primavera or Excel
- Understanding of engineering project lifecycles and deliverables
