We are seeking an experienced Electronics Design Lead to join our engineering team, supporting the delivery of advanced electronic systems within a highly regulated environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior electronics engineer to take ownership of electronic hardware development throughout the full product lifecycle. Working within multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will lead the design, analysis, and development of complex electronic solutions, ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, and quality requirements from concept through to production.

Location: Glasgow or Reading

On-site Requirement: 4 days per week onsite

Seniority: Senior / Lead

Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain SC clearance.

Key Responsibilities & Experience:

  • Lead the development of electronic hardware designs across the full product lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to verification and release.
  • Produce and review design calculations, simulations, and power estimates, ensuring designs meet technical, performance, and reliability requirements.
  • Drive component selection, derating analysis, and electronic design trade studies to support robust and maintainable solutions.
  • Support and oversee PCB design activities, including schematic capture, layout reviews, and hardware integration.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and support delivery of complex engineering programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering electronic design solutions within Defence, Aerospace, Industrial, Energy, or other highly regulated engineering environments.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience across the electronic design lifecycle.
  • Experience performing electronic design calculations and analysis.
  • Proven capability in electronic simulation and modelling.
  • Experience producing power budgets and power estimates.
  • Strong understanding of component selection and derating principles.
  • Experience supporting or reviewing PCB design and hardware development activities.

Soft Skills & Collaboration:

  • Strong technical leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working within multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex delivery environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working within the Defence or Aerospace sectors.
  • Knowledge of hardware verification, validation, and qualification activities.
  • Experience supporting products through manufacture and integration.
  • Familiarity with requirements-driven design and engineering governance processes.
  • Understanding of EMC, reliability, or environmental qualification considerations.
  • Existing Security Clearance.
