As an Industrial Performance & Environmental Assessment Engineer, you will join our manufacturing and sustainability team to support delivery of key environmental performance improvement initiatives across a large-scale aerospace production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support delivery of Industrial Performance Environmental Assessments (IPEA) across designated production programmes.
- Conduct value stream mapping (VSM) activities to identify process inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Perform data collection, Pareto analysis, and process evaluation to identify waste and non-value-added activities.
- Lead and support Kaizen workshops (MFT sessions) to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Categorise and analyse manufacturing activities into VA (Value Added) and NVA (Non-Value Added) processes.
- Identify and develop improvement ideas across energy, CO₂, water, and waste reduction streams.
- Apply eLBIP methodology to progress sustainability initiatives through G0–G9 maturity stages.
- Support development of heat recovery feasibility studies, including applications for industrial tooling such as heat transfer wheel systems.
- Prepare and present structured analysis to support capex justification and project planning (G5–G7 milestones).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate and deliver environmental sustainability improvement projects.
- Ensure effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and coordination across multiple production areas.
Required Skills
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or continuous improvement environments.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, value stream mapping, and waste reduction techniques.
- Experience with data analysis, Pareto charts, and process performance evaluation.
- Ability to support or lead Kaizen / continuous improvement workshops.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and work within structured project frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to environmental sustainability initiatives (energy, CO₂, waste reduction).
- Familiarity with heat transfer systems or industrial process optimisation.
- Experience working within structured improvement frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, eLBI).
