Are you an experienced Electronics Design Engineer looking to take on exciting projects in the defence and aerospace sector? ALTEN UK is expanding our engineering team in Reading, supporting leading clients on cutting‐edge electronic system development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop analogue, digital, and power (SMPS/isolated) electronic circuits.
  • Produce schematics and multilayer PCB layouts using tools such as Altium, Cadence, or Mentor Expedition, ensuring DFM/DFT best practice.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation, including debugging, fault finding, and EMC verification.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, test procedures, and design reports.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers for full product integration.
  • Participate in design reviews and drive improvements to design processes and component libraries.
  • Contribute to component selection, obsolescence management, and supply‐chain risk assessments.
  • Ensure designs meet aerospace, automotive, or defence standards and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience with mixed‐signal circuit design and PCB layout tools (Altium/Cadence/Mentor Expedition).
  • Knowledge of EMC compliance, power electronics, and DFM/DFT principles.
  • Eligible for UK Security Clearance.
