ALTEN UK is seeking a Systems Engineer with an Electronics background to join an exciting automotive engineering programme. This role is suited to an engineer who has experience managing requirements and supporting verification and validation activities across the full systems engineering lifecycle. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in defining system requirements, ensuring traceability, and supporting testing and validation activities in line with the V-Cycle development process.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture, analyse, and manage system requirements from stakeholder needs through to implementation.
- Maintain requirements traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support system architecture and requirements decomposition activities.
- Work across the top left-hand side of the V-Cycle, ensuring robust requirements definition and systems engineering processes.
- Support top right-hand side V-Cycle activities, including system verification, validation, and acceptance testing.
- Develop and review test plans, test specifications, and validation documentation.
- Collaborate with software, electronics, and validation teams to ensure requirements are fully verified.
- Identify and resolve requirement, integration, and test issues throughout development.
Qualifications Required Skills
- Strong industry experience in Electronics Engineering with a proven understanding of electronic systems mandatory.
- Proven experience in Systems Engineering within the automotive or other complex engineering sectors.
- Strong background in Requirements Management, including requirements capture, analysis, decomposition, and traceability.
- Experience working on the left-hand side of the V-Cycle, translating customer and stakeholder needs into clear system requirements and specifications.
- Experience supporting the right-hand side of the V-Cycle, including system verification, validation, and testing activities.
- Understanding of systems integration and the interaction between hardware, software, and electronic components.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills
- Experience within the automotive industry, particularly in the development of electronic and control systems.
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or similar.
- Experience working with embedded systems, ECUs, and vehicle-level electronics.
- Understanding of systems integration, fault analysis, and root cause investigation.
- Knowledge of industry-standard systems engineering processes and methodologies.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams across software, electronics, and test/validation functions.
- Exposure to vehicle development lifecycles from concept through to production.
- Experience working in an Agile or hybrid project environment.
