As a Powertrain Test Engineer, you will join our Gaydon team to support our activities within the automotive engineering sector. You will support testing and validation of engine and electric drive unit (EDU) systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and performance requirements. Working within a dynamic test environment, you will play a key role in troubleshooting, data analysis, and homologation activities.

Experience Level: Mid to Senior (5-9 years of experience)
Key Responsibilities:
- Support engine and EDU/E-machine test cell activities and validation programmes
- Investigate and resolve technical issues through structured problem-solving approaches
- Conduct data analysis and support test result interpretation
- Assist in delivering testing aligned to regulatory and homologation requirements
Qualifications Required Skills:
- Strong technical understanding of engine and EDU/E-machine test cells and equipment
- Knowledge of engine and EDU/E-machine components, attributes, and control strategies
- Proficiency in ETAS INCA software
- Proven experience in issue resolution and structured problem solving
- Full UK driving licence with less than 6 penalty points
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Experience working within powertrain testing or validation environments
- Familiarity with automotive engineering processes and standards
Desirable Skills:
- Experience delivering Type Approval tests for engines and EDU power systems
- Understanding of UN ECE R85 and GB/T 18488 regulations
- Experience with broader powertrain homologation requirements
- Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Concerto)
- Knowledge of FMEA, Six Sigma, 8D, or similar methodologies
