As a Fluid Systems Engineer you will join the Bristol team to support our activities within the Nuclear sector. You will work on high‑profile projects such as Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and similar EPR nuclear power plant developments, with a specific focus on Nuclear Island buildings. This role offers the opportunity to work on some of the most complex reinforced concrete and steel structures in the nuclear industry, collaborating within a multi‑disciplinary and multi‑cultural environment to deliver safe, resilient and high‑quality engineering solutions for our clients.

Experience Level: 3‑10 YOE

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of fluid system design and integration activities for nuclear plant systems
  • Provide technical leadership for assigned fluid systems across concept and detailed design phases
  • Review and prepare System Design Manuals and associated engineering documentation
  • Support development and update of system designs including:
    • P&IDs
    • thermal‑hydraulic calculations
    • pump and pipework sizing
    • pressure relief device calculations
    • system safety features
  • Populate and maintain engineering process databases including DIAGRAMS, TAGS2D, DFD, CONDUITE and BANANAS
  • Produce documentation supporting plant operations and periodic testing activities
  • Develop and manage requirements for Control & Instrumentation interfaces
  • Coordinate supplier feedback and support design updates arising from contract activities
  • Perform technical and peer reviews of engineering reports and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure system integration and compliance
  • Support engineering governance, safety and quality assurance processes
  • Present technical solutions and system maturity at design and stakeholder reviews

Qualifications Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of fluid systems engineering principles
  • Experience in system design and integration within regulated industries
  • Experience producing and reviewing P&IDs and system engineering documentation
  • Familiarity with thermal‑hydraulic calculations and fluid system component sizing
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports and engineering deliverables
  • Ability to coordinate with suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong technical review and peer‑checking capabilities
  • Understanding of engineering governance and quality assurance processes
  • Ability to manage technical priorities and escalates engineering risks appropriately

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Process or Nuclear Engineering, or equivalent military experience
  • Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance (BPSS as a minimum)

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working on EPR nuclear power plant projects
  • Familiarity with BIM environments and multi‑disciplinary coordination
  • Previous leadership or team management experience in complex engineering projects
