Due to ongoing expansion, Alten Ltd is looking for an Experienced Business Manager to join our Aerospace, Defence or Energy division in London. This is a fantastic chance to join a fast-growing company with strong core values of Excellence, Accountability, Integrity, and Service.

Your new role

As an Experienced Business Manager, you will be contributing to the development and growth of your own account, engaging in business development, career management and P/L responsibilities.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
    • Maximize the potential of your future business unit by designing and executing a business plan targeting mid‑sized and key accounts within the British industrial market.
    • Develop new business opportunities through proactive prospecting of new clients.
    • Generate new business leads with existing customers by identifying and nurturing new leads.
    • Close deals to support your clients with consulting or service center contracts.
    • Oversee the delivery of your offers in collaboration with the project delivery team.
  • RECRUITMENT AND CAREER MANAGEMENT
    • Contribute to the recruitment strategy by developing and implementing your own recruitment plan.
    • Select and recruit consultants who will join your team.
    • Oversee consultants’ career development, including career management meetings, annual performance reviews, and training coordination.
    • Ensure a high level of service delivery by your team across client projects.
  • PROFIT CENTRE MANAGEMENT
    • Manage your portfolio of accounts with full responsibility for P&L and financial performance.
    • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and build long‑term partnerships.
    • Drive profitability in collaboration with support functions such as technical leadership and finance, contributing to the company’s overall financial growth.
    • Continuously align your activities and evolve your offerings to support sustainable, long‑term customer relationships.

Who are we looking for?

Someone who possesses a curiosity for the Engineering sector, with a result-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset. They will be comfortable working in an international and fast-paced environment.

Experience required:

  • Bachelors or master's degree in Engineering, Management or Business administration.
  • Min 2 years of experience within Aerospace, Defence, Energy or equivalent military experience (not mandatory).
  • Demonstrable experience in leading teams and performing business development activities.
  • Experience working autonomously, being result-oriented, having an entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication skills and natural leadership is crucial.
