We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Laboratory Technician to join the technical team at BYK Additives in Widnes on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to provide maternity cover. You will work as part of the technical team at BYK Widnes working flexibly across the technical department as required to meet the needs of the business.
Responsible for laboratory-based tasks, which include sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analysing results. Adherence to laboratory procedures and health and safety guidelines. You may be asked to work such hours outside normal hours of employment and at weekends as the company considers necessary to meet the needs of the business.
Key Duties include:
- Prepare and analyse samples following strict methodologies to produce reliable and precise data.
- Record and interpret results in a timely manner.
- Issue technical reports within area of responsibility.
- Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example viscometers, conductivity, and pH meters.
- Work both individually and as part of a laboratory team with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work that is undertaken.
