Altair Consultancy and Advisory Services Ltd is seeking an experienced and ambitious Assistant Director – Assets to join our growing consultancy team delivering innovative solutions to clients across the housing sector.
About the Role
As Assistant Director, you will lead and manage a portfolio of client projects, providing expert consultancy services and ensuring high-quality outcomes. You will become part of a small, passionate, growing workstream at the heart of Altair's Assets and Development Team and will be responsible for the line management of a Senior Consultant and possibly other resources as the workstream grows.
Location: Home-based with travel to client sites as required
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: Up to £97,000 per annum depending on experience
Key responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategic Development
- Support the Director in delivering business plan objectives and growth targets.
- Assist in setting strategic direction for the Assets workstream.
- Monitor performance, utilisation, income, and resource use.
- Working with the Director and Assistant Director (Strategic Asset Management) to lead the Assets workstream.
- Provide line management and leadership to team members.
- Client Delivery
- Lead the delivery of building safety, golden thread, asset information management, compliance, and remediation projects.
- Act as the primary client contact on assignments and placements.
- Manage project teams and oversee quality, outputs, budgets, and timescales.
- Lead stakeholder engagement activities, workshops, interviews, and presentations.
- Produce high-quality reports, recommendations, and strategic advice.
- Business Development & Growth
- Build and maintain strong client and industry relationships.
- Develop and deliver proposals, tenders, and pitches.
- Represent the business at conferences, seminars, and industry events.
- Produce thought leadership content, research, and industry insight articles.
- Identify and develop new products, services, partnerships, and market opportunities.
About You
We are looking for a commercially aware and technically strong professional with extensive experience in building safety and asset information management.
Essential Experience
- Significant experience within the UK housing and affordable housing sectors.
- Proven track record delivering building safety projects.
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience of the Golden Thread of Information.
- Experience of asset information management systems and data management.
- Strong project management experience delivering complex programmes.
- Experience leading teams and managing client relationships.
- Demonstrable expertise in compliance, risk management, and procurement activities.
Qualifications
- CIH Level 5 Diploma, construction-related degree, or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable Qualifications
- RICS, CIOB, CEng, APM, PRINCE2
