Our client in Plymouth, MI is looking for a Quality Inspector. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

The Incoming Quality Inspector performs product inspections with magnified visual tools and mechanical measuring devices to ensure product conformance to requirements, coming from the supplier. Inspector will review technical data packages (e.g. certifications, assembly instructions, engineering drawings, schematics, bills of material, specifications, etc.) to:

  • Verify and resolve product configuration issues using bill of material and kitting specifications.
  • Identify and assign rework actions necessary as part of containment and inventory verification.
  • Conduct Product Acceptance verification for incoming parts, work-in-process and final approval.
  • Log reports and findings (defects) necessary to ensure accuracy of all Quality records for traceability.

Skills:

  • Candidates must be able to perform in a self-directed in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Windows, MS Office Suite.
  • Have successful mechanical assembly experience.
  • Ability to effectively operate visual magnification devices (microscopes, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively operate and interpret basic electronic measuring devices/gages.
  • Ability to effectively operate and interpret basic mechanical measuring devices/gages.
  • Fine motor skill dexterity and accuracy.

Most important daily skills/responsibilities:

  • New DU prototype level build components’ incoming inspection, including but not limited to castings, gears, harnesses, steel laminations, copper windings, steel shafts, aluminum parts, injection molded and plastic parts.
  • Type of inspection include:Visual checks for rust, porosity, missing components, damages to critical surfaces.Caliper/gage check for KPCs.ISIR data and certification verification.

What You Will Need:

Basics:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Acceptable visual acuity and eye-hand coordination
  • Certification for IPC/WHMA-A-620 a bonus.
  • Understanding of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controls.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical data packages for incoming components.
  • Employee may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, reach with hand and arm, and talk or hear.

Preferred:

  • Any previous CMM machine operation experience.
