The Alternative HAN Company (Alt HAN Co) is a not-for-profit company jointly owned by a co-operative of UK retail Energy suppliers. It operates through a forum of supplier representatives and a Board. Costs are recovered from energy consumers, via charges levied on all licensed energy suppliers.

We were established in 2016 for the sole purpose of finding an industry-wide solution for smart metering in hard-to-reach houses and apartment blocks. Specifically, where the broadcast signal from a smart meter communication hub is not strong enough to reach the gas meter or smart devices in the home this problem affects around 5% of premises – and if not addressed could leave behind more than a million customers in the transition to a smarter, low-carbon energy sector.

The Role:

Alt HAN is seeking a proactive and organised Operations Administrator to support its Crowded Meter Room team, enabling smart metering installations across multi-occupancy buildings.

this role will assist with the coordinating of project activities, managing data and documentation, and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will support the delivery of operational processes, monitor performance against KPIs, and ensure timely resolution of queries while maintaining high-quality reporting standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong administrative experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the energy sector or with CRM systems (e.g. Dynamics 365) is advantageous.

Job Description:

  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Assisting the Operations Co-ordinator in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Planning, scheduling, and reporting key project activities to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring that comprehensive reporting is prepared and maintained
  • Supporting the efficient and effective management of operational activities, processes, and administrative tasks across the team
  • Gathering and analysis of data
  • Taking ownership of customer queries and Meter Equipment Manager queries, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication
  • Reviewing survey outputs and other workloads in a timely manner, ensuring delivery in line with agreed KPIs
  • Providing weekly updates on performance and activities, while identifying opportunities to streamline processes and maintain quality
  • Data management and validation
  • Supporting the Crowed Meter Room Team
  • Align to timelines within the project lifecycle
  • Positively engage all levels of stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Other ad hoc duties

    Professional Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous experience within an Administrator role
  • Competent with Microsoft office, and able to learn new systems quickly
  • Experience working in the energy sector is desirable
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 and CRM systems would be advantageous
  • Proven track record in delivering to deadlines
  • Experience of working with both internal and external stakeholders of multi levels
  • Strong time management and business acumen
