Role Summary

Alston & Bird is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our London office as a Business Development Assistant. Under the direction of a supervisor, the Business Development Assistant performs a variety of duties in support of a dynamic, international team responsible for the coordination and successful execution of a variety of marketing and business development initiatives, specifically supporting Alston & Bird’s London office and Global Services teams. This is an attorney-facing position, and therefore all activities entail frequent lawyer contact and exposure to Alston & Bird’s high-profile practice groups. This individual should be a driven and organized self-starter, willing to learn and jump into projects and provide TOP ECHELON service.

Role Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with and reporting within the MBD/Practice Management Team, including director, manager, and specialist-level team members.
  • Event coordination and logistics for London office and Global Services initiatives.
  • Preparation, formatting, and updating of marketing and internal communications materials (PowerPoints, one-pagers, RFPs, newsletters, etc.).
  • Tracking and administrative support for international matters, referrals, and reporting.
  • Maintaining mailing lists related to practice group events and office marketing efforts.
  • Support cross-office coordination between London- and U.S.-based personnel.
  • Assisting with a host of other administrative tasks in support of marketing and business development efforts for the London office and Global Services teams (conferences, internal initiatives, client gifting, CLE materials, intranet updates, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment is essential.
  • Self-starter with an eagerness to learn, be proactive, and seek new tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and proficient with grammar and editing.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of attorneys and colleagues throughout the firm.
  • Interested in developing deeper knowledge of marketing principles, procedures, concepts, and practical applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
  • Experience with CRM, document management systems and relational databases a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, English, marketing, management, communications, or other business-oriented degree.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in marketing, business development, and/or practice management in a law firm or professional services firm.
