Your future role
Join the team responsible for the development of future trains in the UK and abroad. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who is experienced in managing specialised disciplines such as Aerodynamics, Human Factors, Environmental and Climatic Adaptation, Eco Design, Acoustics and Fire Safety.
In this role, you will lead and manage team workload to ensure effective delivery across projects, while providing regular updates to management and escalating any risks or performance concerns. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement to achieve on-time, right-first-time delivery, ensuring full compliance with engineering processes, standards, and instructions. Alongside this, you will lead, develop, and support your team, with a focus on people management and capability growth.
We’ll look to you for:
- Ensuring understanding and application of the Train Design rules, processes and tools for the Transverse Discipline domain
- A high level of cross-functional working with all functions within the organisation in the UK and with global colleagues.
- Participating in the Central Competency global network
- Manage and forecast Transverse Discipline Domain workload, ensuring alignment between capacity, skills, and demand, and identifying and securing the necessary resources to meet QCD commitments, including activity transfer where required
- Reporting issue and/or making proposals to the central Train Design Office that would contribute to Métier continuous improvement
- Driving APSYS (Alstom Performance System) roadmap of the domain
- Supporting the Transverse Discipline Domain team in the resolution of issues and challenging actions
- Alerting relevant N+1 in case of main issue (capacity, skills, rule applicability, etc.)
- Verifying relevant Train Design documents according to relevant approvals process

- Expert in a specialist discipline field, such as Aerodynamics, Human Factors, Environmental and Climatic Adaptation, Eco Design, Acoustics or Fire Safety
- Significant experience in Railway products is desirable
- Experience of team management is required
- Experienced in Requirements Management
- Good communicator, able to co-ordinate and/or support cross functional product development activities
- Fluent in English with excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
