Your future role
This is an opportunity to join a world-leading engineering company through a well-established 12 month Internship. The internship will give the applicant a broad exposure to systems engineering as part of our Specialist Engineering team, working on a range of train systems to build both technical knowledge and broader engineering skills. The Services Engineering team supports all Alstom UK fleets with issues ranging from minor material changes up to complete introduction of new systems and vehicle modernisation projects. The role will involve working with a range of different stakeholders and allow for travel to different Alstom and Customer sites as well as our Suppliers.
Your Responsibilities?
The successful applicant will sit within our Electrical or Mechanical Engineering teams, you will be assigned a range of tasks to manage as work package owner allowing you to gain a range of skills. Your responsibility will be to identify the required solution, produce the necessary validation work and work with the wider team to gain customer acceptance before applying to a train.
Desired Skills
The ideal candidate will possess good technical skills (rail knowledge is not needed), be self-motivated and curious and possess good interpersonal skills. The role will involve producing good quality concise technical documentation, so language skills and IT literacy are a must. Many tasks are better understood by seeing in person so regular trips to customer depots will be required, rail travel is preferred but pool cars are also available so a driving license may be an advantage.

You need to be currently studying towards a BEng in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
