This is an opportunity to join a world-leading engineering company through a well-established 3-year Apprenticeship Development Programme. You will work alongside experienced professionals and receive strong support, mentoring and coaching while developing against the Apprenticeship Standard. The programme includes placements across multiple departments to build a broad understanding of the business. Placements are planned to support your development and provide a varied, rewarding experience. Candidate will be part of the Services UK Engineering Electrical Design team. We are responsible for all aspects of electrical design changes related to our large legacy in-service fleet portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical installation/wiring solutions for modifications developed by the System's team or from external 3rd parties and handle/manage the upkeep of the affected core electrical data. This involves updating electrical schematics, wiring tables, BOMs (Bill of Materials), creating harness stick diagrams & cable installation routing diagram.
  • Prepare modification design data, analyze, develop, test and demonstrate Electrical Engineering solutions that solve complex issues for vehicle installation requirements.
  • Provide electrical design cost and schedule estimates on complicated engineering programs.
  • Attend Alstom and customer sites to carry out on-train surveys during the various phases of design and implementation activity.
  • Respond promptly to (TQ's) technical queries raised by the customer against design data.
  • Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will be required to work at height and in enclosed spaces, from time to time.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • GCSE or equivalent 5 Subjects including Maths, English & Science (Grade 4 to 9)
  • 90+ credits in an Engineering BTEC at Level 3 or 3 A Levels of Grade C or above.
  • Strong communication, analytical and IT skills.
  • Mechanical and Electrical understanding.
