Your future role:
You will complete a two-year accredited development programme whilst providing a tangible contribution to the success of the team. During the programme, you will undertake a series of rotations around the function gaining an understanding of the business and the service operation lifecycle. Developing your knowledge during your time at Alstom is key, along with developing your skills, experience and leadership mindset. Within a climate of innovation, you will also support solutions to meet the customer requirements as part of the safety case and train presentation, support the identification and delivery of continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to complete on the job learning, which is complemented by a modular personal development programme. Supported by a mentor, you will be able to work towards gaining a relevant professional qualification.
The role will reside within the current engineering team at Crewe, working alongside electrical, mechanical and HVAC colleagues. The role will predominately support the incumbent Senior Electrical Engineer with duties similar but not limited to those below.
Duties include:
- To support daily production activities
- To support the site weekly launch meeting for NPI
- To work cross-functionally on process changes
- To liaise with CE where applicable
- To undertake product audits
- To review and support customer change requests

Qualifications: You will need a minimum 2:1 BEng or MEng in an Electrical / Electrical Engineering. We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Good problem solver with a strong analytical and methodological thought process, able to process technical data.
- Experience in any of the following: circuit design, software application and development and control electronic techniques are desirable.
- An understanding of industry standards and safety practices in electrical engineering.
- An ability to create technical reports and presentations.
There will be a need to travel within the UK to support our customers both internal and external; possessing a driving licence will make this easier, and it may also be necessary to travel outside of the UK, but this will be infrequent.
