Your Future Role
We’re looking to recruit a Control Room Technician to join Alstom, a global leader in rolling stock and rail solutions. This is a desk-based role sitting within a team of five, requiring independence and strong technical capability. The successful candidate will provide technical support to customer control room staff while trains are in service, ensuring rapid response to operational issues and maintaining service reliability. This position is ideal for a Rolling Stock Engineer seeking to progress into a control room environment. This role requires flexibility to work across varying rotating shift patterns as follows: 5 days on, 5 days off followed by 4 nights on, 5 days off and then 2 days, 3 nights, and 4 days off.
We’ll Look to You For:
- Acting as the key interface between customer control room staff and technical support teams.
- Managing and responding to in-service failures during operational hours.
- Monitoring live data using ORBITA (a remote condition monitoring system) and AVIS (Alstom Vehicle Information System), detecting potential issues and taking proactive action.
- Investigating in-service failures remotely using diagnostic tools such as ORBITA, OTMR (On-Train Monitoring Recorder), CCTV, and compiling reports for depot investigations.
- Creating and managing work orders using MAXIMO (a computerised maintenance management system).
- Tracking ORBITA alerts for AVIS outputs and integrating AVIS tasks into maintenance schedules using MAXIMO’s dynamic planning functionality.
- Coordinating responses to in-service failures, providing rapid technical support to customer operations teams.
- Conducting advanced fault-finding at the depot and providing technical guidance to managers and technicians.
