Your future role:

  • Responsible for ensuring all train maintenance and servicing activities run to their maximum efficiency and output.
  • People management for the production department, providing direction, instruction, and guidance to individuals or groups, including Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Assistants.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Assist in running an efficient train maintenance operation which is able to fulfil operational and contractual targets.
  • Manage maintenance projects in accordance with engineering instructions.
  • Responsible for the safety of individuals on the team and those impacted by any maintenance activity.
  • Understand and work in accordance with the company’s safety and quality requirements, and procedures within the Depot Safety Management System and Depot Operations Plan.
  • Perform effective diagnosis of train faults and timely repair of components to maximise train availability.
  • Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance to minimise train unavailability/downtime.
  • Record and document all work carried out within Alstom Asset Management System (SAP GSI).
  • Analyse faults to identify root cause and develop countermeasures, improvement actions, and containments.
  • Control and source maintenance tools, equipment, and spares.
  • Support Reliability Shift manager and high tech team in documenting breakdowns, identifying root cause and remedial action to help resolve recurring issues.
  • Understand and maintain high standards of tidiness and organisation in line with good 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practice.
  • Understand and work in accordance with mandatory Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
  • Work with the team and other department members to produce effective maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods to meet the Train Plan and efficiency of the Exam Plan.
  • Reporting to the Shift Production Manager, effectively lead a team of maintenance technicians and maintenance assistants to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output.
  • Motivate, coach, and oversee the team’s performance, attendance, and disciplinary issues.
  • Responsible for coaching staff in good working practices and quality standards.
  • Support the Shift Production Manager in identifying training needs.
  • Deputise for Shift Production Manager as required during leave/absence.
