To work as part of a team, to ensure that the fleet is serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient and cost‑effective manner, whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.
We’ll look to you for:
- Support depot operations including train acceptance, dispatch, shunting, route setting, and movement of units across site
- Carry out servicing activities such as fuelling, sanding, system top-ups, fuel readings, and water system maintenance
- Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance, including basic mechanical and electrical tasks and component changes
- Carry out primary and secondary fault finding, ensuring accurate reporting and follow‑up of defects
- Maintain high depot standards through cleaning, housekeeping, and general site duties
- Use operational systems (e.g. SAP, Alista, SES, CMS logbooks) to accurately record and update maintenance activities
- Liaise with Fleet Planners, Maintenance Controllers, and wider teams to support efficient delivery of the maintenance plan
- Operate plant, machinery, and vehicles where trained (e.g. FLT, cranes, company vehicles, lifting equipment)
- Support workshop activities, fleet-specific requirements, and service exams as required
- Take on additional responsibilities such as mentoring, nominated/appointed roles, and ongoing training
- Carry out duties in line with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards, promoting safe working at all times
All about you:
- Time served apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualifications (ONC/HNC/City & Guilds) or recognised equivalent.
- Level 3 Engineering Qualification Must Include Appropriate Electrical Qualification.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
