Your future role
As a High Level Technician, you will serve as a key technical interface between production teams and engineering support, ensuring rapid fault resolution and continuous improvement of train maintenance practices. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex electrical and mechanical issues, optimizing maintenance schedules, and supporting root cause analysis using industry-standard methodologies. Your role will involve close collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to enhance train reliability, manage warranty concerns, and implement effective long-term solutions. Proficiency in remote monitoring systems and diagnostic tools will be essential to drive performance and support data-driven decision-making.
We’ll look to you for:
- Serve as the primary contact for Production and control room staff for in-service fault resolution.
- Optimize train maintenance protocols according to established balanced examination schedules.
- Assist customers with detailed fault finding and diagnostics to identify issues.
- Develop solutions for immediate mitigation and long-term resolution of problems.
- Monitor warranty issues and collaborate with supplier technical teams to resolve them.
- Respond to faulty trains in service, performing component replacements and modification work.
- Support customers in root cause analysis using methodologies such as Alstom FRACAS, 8D, and PPS.
- Ensure accurate sourcing of replacement parts for train systems.
- Aid operators in updating maintenance instructions, overhaul instructions, processes, and procedures to improve maintenance practices.
- Collaborate with Alstom Technical Publications and Central Engineering teams as necessary.
- Monitor and evaluate train reliability and availability performance, generating monthly performance reports.
- Utilize the Orbita remote monitoring system to track train conditions in service.
- Download data from onboard data recorders using laptops for analysis.
- Run diagnostics software to troubleshoot faults in various train systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, train management systems, and onboard computers.
