Take on a new challenge and apply your Materials Handler expertise in a new cutting-edge field. We are seeking a dedicated individual to join us as a Material Handler, on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for overseeing a fleet of trains undergoing a Mid Life Refresh to be completed at Grove Park Depot over 3 years. Training will be completed at Ramsgate Depot over a 3 month period.
As part of this role, you will operate across both Grove Park (London) predominantly and occasionally Ramsgate, so flexibility to travel between sites is essential. You will manage a team of two staff members and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of material supply, project planning, and supplier coordination. Your responsibilities will include forecasting, scheduling, and maintaining order books to keep the project on track.
We will look to you to:
- Oversee goods receipt and goods issue processes
- Ensure accurate material storage and location management
- Monitor supplier OTIF (On-Time, In-Full) and customer OTD (On-Time Delivery)
- Manage the open overdue order book
- Process purchase requisitions, acknowledgements, and invoices efficiently
- Expedite material deliveries and resolve supplier issues
- Maximise material availability while minimising Liquidated Damages exposure
- Handle invoice management and NCR (Non-Conformance Report) resolution
- Book materials to service orders and create paperwork for stock rejections
- Manage picking kits for component exchange programmes
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- Previous experience in a Materials Controller, Materials Planner, or Supply Chain role within the rail, engineering, automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of material planning, inventory control, and supply chain processes.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Knowledge of goods receipt, goods issue, stock control, and supplier performance management.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, order book management, and supplier OTIF (On-Time In-Full) tracking.
