Your future role
The Product Chief Engineer is responsible for shaping and maintaining the product definition and for defining and ensuring the product architecture throughout its lifecycle. This role is pivotal in ensuring that technical solutions align with strategic objectives, market needs, and organisational standards. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation, maintain product integrity, and support business competitiveness.
We’ll look to you for:
- Strategy Phase
- Gather and analyse technical inputs from internal and external stakeholders to inform product strategy.
- Define product concepts in alignment with market trends, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to the long-term technical roadmap for Rolling Stocks products.
- Develop and document product architecture, ensuring modularity, scalability, and compliance.
- Define and validate key technical choices that underpin product performance, safety, and reliability.
- Establish and manage the product variability model to support customisation and adaptability.
- Be the guarantor of the product philosophy and architecture through their role as Design Authority throughout the entire offer and up to the Interface Gate Review (IGR) during the project phase.
- Define technical solutions for bids and proposals, balancing innovation with cost and competitiveness.
- Provide expert pre-tendering support to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with client needs.
- Actively participate in the Product Configuration and Change Board by reviewing and approving technical configurations.
- Actively participate in the Product Configuration and Change Board during project execution, ensuring consistent product definition.
- Assist project teams in resolving technical issues and implementing approved changes.
- Collect and analyse technical feedback from operational products and customers.
- Adjust and update the product baseline to reflect lessons learned, improve reliability, and support future offerings.
