Alstom is the UK & Ireland’s leading supplier of new trains and train services, and a leading signalling and rail infrastructure provider. Alstom have built, or are building, just under 40% of the UK mainline train fleet; as well as the entire fleets in service with London Underground and Dublin Luas. We provide the widest range of smart solutions in the rail market, from innovative high-speed rolling stock, metros and trams to maintenance, modernisation, infrastructure and signalling. Employing 6000 people, we design and build trains at Derby, the UK’s largest train factory; and operate major sites at Widnes, Crewe, Ilford and Plymouth, and 30 train services depots across the UK and Ireland.

Overview: Lead the development and deployment of the next generation data-driven solutions for Mobility, within a lean startup pathway and in collaboration of engineering & mobility experts, data scientists, software engineers, HMI designer and devops.

We'll look to you for:

  • Define, develop, manage & sustain the data solution including storage, processing units and UI defined as the industrial solution for the program, such as:
  • Design technical solutions for production-grade and cyber-secure data solutions.
  • Build multi-tenant data collector and storage.
  • Build multi-tenant streaming and data processing in batch and near-real time flows.
  • Design scalable data model, including SQL and NoSQL modeling.
  • Assess and enhance the data quality of incoming data flows.
  • Apply Data management and security components.
  • Build customised Analytical Dashboards.
  • Evaluate the opportunities from new technologies.
  • Apply strong testing and quality assurance practices.

  • IT and/or digital companies or software or startups.
  • Extensive practice of data processing and software development, in Python or R or Java/Scala environment.
  • Experience of data modelling.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL database configuration, eg. Postgress, MariaDB, MySQL.
  • Knowledge with devops including docker and ansible.
  • Experience with git and release management.
  • Proven track record for designing stable solution, testing and debugging.
  • Proven capabilities with worldwide teams.
  • Excellent Communication Skills. (French is a plus)
