Also is looking for a Staff Project Engineer, Vehicle Hardware to lead the design and integration of the physical vehicle platform for an electric 2-wheel vehicle. This role combines hands-on mechanical design (CAD) with system-level ownership of vehicle hardware including chassis, structural components, packaging, and integration of electrical subsystems.
The Project Engineer is responsible for translating vehicle requirements into manufacturable designs, coordinating cross-functional development, and ensuring successful integration and validation of the vehicle hardware system.
What You Will Do
- Vehicle System Definition
- Translate product and customer requirements into vehicle-level hardware requirements and design targets
- Define subsystem requirements for chassis, frame, mounting structures, suspension, brakes, HV/LV component packaging
- Support vehicle architecture decisions including component layout, load paths, and serviceability
- Lead vehicle packaging tradeoffs involving ergonomics, serviceability, manufacturability, and cost
- Mechanical Design & CAD
- Own CAD design of vehicle hardware systems including structural components, mounting systems, and packaging structures
- Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for prototype and production parts
- Manage CAD integration of vehicle hardware and battery, motor, controllers, harnesses within the vehicle platform
- Support design for manufacturability, assembly, and service
- Integration & Prototype Development
- Lead hardware integration of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
- Support prototype builds, vehicle bring-up, and system integration activities
- Troubleshoot fit, function and durability issues during development
- Drive design changes based on testing and build feedback
- Validation & Testing
- Define and support vehicle-level validation including durability, environmental, and functional testing
- Analyze test data and implement design improvements
- Support regulatory and safety compliance testing as required
- Risk, Safety & Compliance
- Identify vehicle-level risks and failure modes and define mitigations
- Lead or support DFMEA and vehicle hazard analysis
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with electrical, firmware, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver integrated vehicle systems - act as the technical integrator between mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and supplier teams
- Support design reviews, technical trade studies, and program milestones
- Coordinate engineering changes and maintain design documentation
- Support manufacturing ramp, quality issues, and field feedback
What You Will Bring
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or related field
- 5+ years experience in vehicle or complex hardware development
- Strong proficiency in mechanical CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX, or similar)
- Strong background in vehicle integration, packaging, and validation
- Experience supporting products through production
- Experience with prototype builds and hardware integration
- Experience with electric motorcycles, scooters, or powersports vehicles
- Familiarity with structural design, vibration, and durability considerations
