This 12-month fixed-term maternity cover is a great opportunity for someone ready to step into a key Team Leader role and build valuable leadership experience. You will play an important part in keeping our operations running smoothly, supporting colleagues to perform at their best and ensuring we deliver a consistent, high-quality service for our customers.
The successful candidate will, alongside the other Logistics Team Leader and two Senior Analysts, manage the Sample Reception and Courier teams based at the Wakefield site. The Role:
- Shift: Monday to Friday on a rota: 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00, with occasional weekend working
- Contract: Fixed Term and Full Time
- Salary: £29,690
- Location: Wakefield
The Day-to-Day:
- Championing a safe working environment, including Health & Safety checks and ensuring monthly H&S training is completed
- Planning and allocating resources to meet operational needs and service requirements
- Maintaining accurate quality records and ensuring procedural compliance
- Leading, training and coaching the team, keeping the skills matrix and training records up to date
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and performance management, including appraisals
- Managing absence, annual leave and flexitime, completing required returns and leading effective daily team meetings
The Essentials:
- A positive, professional approach—acting as a role model and leading by example
- The ability to manage performance and deliver results through your team
- Strong communication skills, including listening, coaching, giving feedback and handling challenging conversations
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
- Confidence with IT systems (Excel, Outlook and ability to learn in-house systems) and a strong standard of verbal and numerical reasoning
- Experience in a busy, deadline-driven environment, with team-leading/supervisory experience and a focus on targets and KPIs (preferred, not essential; own transport and a valid driving licence preferred)
