Are you looking to start a career in Environmental Science? We're looking for a well-organised Logistics Technician to join our busy water testing laboratory team in Wakefield. This role is ideal if you've worked in hospitality or retail and you're used to fast-paced, customer-focused environments where accuracy matters. You'll be part of the logistics team responsible for the smooth receipt, registration and storage of samples, helping the lab run efficiently and on time. It's a great opportunity to gain practical experience in environmental testing, working to high standards and supporting essential water quality monitoring.
About the Position
- Hours Per Week: 37
- Days Per Week: Monday-Friday with weekends on a rotational basis (some combination of 0600-1400, 1200-2000 or 1400-2200)
- Contract: Full time, permanent
- Annual Salary: From £25,878
- Location: Ossett, Wakefield
The day to day
- Register and prepare incoming samples promptly and accurately
- Pack sample containers for distribution to customers
- Rotate sample bottles and dispose of them correctly after analysis
- Keep your workstation clean, tidy and well organised at all times
- Process returned items and laboratory waste for recycling or disposal
- Work in line with ISO 17025 and the company's quality management system
The Essentials
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C (or Grade 4) or above, including Science, Maths and English
- Confident IT skills including Excel and Outlook, with the ability to learn in-house systems
- Able to work accurately to tight deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong teamworking skills and willingness to support colleagues
- Follow Health & Safety requirements, including correct use of PPE and safe manual handling
- Report near misses/incidents promptly and follow correct storage and safety procedures
