The Role
The Team Leader will play a key role in overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and staff development. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication to drive continuous improvement and maintain high standards. Building strong relationships with both internal teams and external customers will be essential.
The role offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic laboratory environment while developing both technical and managerial skills.

Contract: Full Time & Permanent
Annual Salary: £28,237.00
The day to day
- Manage a team of laboratory and senior technicians in the Food Microbiology Process Laboratory.
- Oversee preincubation activities, including sample weighing and serial dilutions under aseptic conditions.
- Ensure smooth daily operations while maintaining high health, safety, and quality standards.
- Monitor productivity and compliance with laboratory protocols.
- Handle routine client communications.
- Foster strong collaboration between the laboratory, other departments, and clients.
- Gain valuable insight into the operations of a commercial food and water testing laboratory.
The Essentials
- Previous experience in a microbiology lab production environment.
- Passion for science and people management (degree not required).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
- Strong problem-solving and proactive thinking skills for continuous improvement.
