We’re looking for two enthusiastic Laboratory Technicians to join our brand-new night shift operation. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team where your attention to detail, commitment to quality, and willingness to learn will help support our expanding laboratory services.

About The Position

  • Shift: Night shift
  • Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Prescot
  • Training: Full training provided
  • Initial Day Shift: First two weeks 07:30–16:00
  • Night Shift Pattern: 06:00–14:00 and 13:30–21:30, transition after two months

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Preparing and weighing samples of various commodities based on method requirements
  • Understanding metals and minerals analysis in precious and base metals
  • Carrying out routine tasks accurately in line with QA guidelines
  • Performing basic instrument maintenance and operation
  • Routinely using standard laboratory equipment such as balances for sample weighing
  • Organising and planning daily workloads

The Essentials

  • Experience working within a laboratory environment
  • Awareness of Health and Safety regulations relevant to laboratory settings
  • Ability to store samples in accordance with existing systems
  • Confidence using IT systems, including LIMS, to record data
  • Understanding of appropriate disposal methods for used solutions
  • Knowledge of company Quality Standards including ISO 9001:2008 and UKAS 17025, along with a basic understanding of COSHH
