We’re looking for an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join our brand-new night shift operation. About The Position
- Shift: Night shift
- Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
- Location: Prescot
- Training: Full training provided
- Hours: You will initially work day shifts for your first two weeks (07:30–16:00) to complete preliminary training. Following this, you will move onto our current early and late shift pattern (06:00–14:00 and 13:30–21:30). After approximately two months transition into a permanent night shift.
The day to day
- Preparing and weighing samples of various commodities based on method requirements
- Understanding metals and minerals analysis in precious and base metals
- Carrying out routine tasks accurately in line with QA guidelines
- Performing basic instrument maintenance and operation
- Routinely using standard laboratory equipment such as balances for sample weighing
- Organising and planning daily workloads
The Essentials
- Experience working within a laboratory environment
- Awareness of Health and Safety regulations relevant to laboratory settings
- Ability to store samples in accordance with existing systems
- Confidence using IT systems, including LIMS, to record data
- Understanding of appropriate disposal methods for used solutions
- Knowledge of company Quality Standards including ISO 9001:2008 and UKAS 17025, along with a basic understanding of COSHH
