Are you looking to start a career in Environmental Science? We’re looking for two well-organised Logistics Technicians to join our busy environmental laboratory team in Hawarden. This role suits someone who’s worked in retail, hospitality, warehousing or other fast-paced customer-focused environments, where accuracy and attention to detail are essential. You’ll be part of the logistics team ensuring the smooth receipt, registration, storage and dispatch of samples – helping the laboratory operate efficiently and meet turnaround times. It’s a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental testing, working to high standards and supporting essential monitoring work.
About The Position
- Hours per week: 37
- Working pattern (two shift options): Tuesday to Saturday, 7:00am to 3:00pm; Wednesday to Saturday, 5:00am to 3:00pm (includes shift allowance of £2,000 per year)
- Contract: Full-time, permanent
- Salary: From £24,242 per annum (+ £2,000 per year shift allowance for the 5:00am start shift)
- Location: Hawarden
The day to day
- Receive, register and prepare incoming samples accurately and on time
- Pack sample containers/kits for dispatch to customers
- Rotate sample bottles and dispose of them correctly following analysis
- Keep work areas clean, tidy and well organised at all times
- Process returned items and laboratory waste for recycling or safe disposal
- Work in line with ISO 17025 and the company quality management system
The Essentials
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including Science, Maths and English
- Confident IT skills (including Excel and Outlook) and able to learn in-house systems
- Able to work accurately under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritise effectively
- Strong teamworking skills and willingness to support colleagues
- Committed to Health & Safety, including correct use of PPE and safe manual handling
- Report near misses/incidents promptly and follow correct storage and safety procedures
