We are currently recruiting 2 night shift Analysts to join our Microbiology team. This role is ideal for someone with a scientific background who is reliable, detail-focused and comfortable working through the night to support consistent laboratory service delivery.

You will be responsible for the routine analysis of samples, working to defined quality standards, procedures and timescales, while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety and teamwork.

Hours Per Week: 37

Days Per Week: Tuesday to Saturday (00:00 – 08:00)

Contract: Full Time and Permanent

Salary: £24,242 per annum + £2090 Shift Allowance

Closing Date: Thursday 12th February 2026

The Day to Day

  • Complete the analysis of samples using a range of microbiological methods, meeting required quality standards and timescales.
  • Ensure all samples are processed in compliance with the Quality Management System.
  • Complete allocated sample volumes to agreed deadlines during the night shift.
  • Support daily service delivery in line with Company KPIs.
  • Understand and meet customer requirements.
  • Report analytical data once deemed competent under Competent Persons regulations.
  • Work with other team members to ensure the efficient flow of samples.
  • Follow all Health & Safety and Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to COSHH risk assessments.
  • Use PPE correctly and ensure safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
  • Report any incidents or near misses to the line manager.

The Essentials

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or Grades 4–9), including Science, Maths and English.
  • A level or equivalent in a scientific subject.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to plan and organise your own work area.
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate record keeping.
  • Customer-focused approach.
