As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll support microbiological testing processes that help ensure food safety and quality for our clients. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys hands‑on work, and takes pride in maintaining high laboratory standards.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological testing on food samples, including weighing, diluting, and preparing samples using aseptic techniques.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic workstation in line with departmental cleaning schedules.
  • Prepare and supplement media, conduct volume checks, and operate laboratory equipment such as media preparators and pourer stackers.
  • Ensure all samples are handled safely and accurately.
  • Dispose of waste and clean utensils promptly to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet testing deadlines and departmental targets.

Essential Qualifications

  • Educated to A level (or equivalent) in a science‑related subject, or with relevant laboratory experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining laboratory cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well within a team and respond positively to feedback.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a flexible approach to working hours and changing priorities.
