You will be a van driver based at our Otterbourne site, responsible for collecting samples from Fairlee and delivering them to Otterbourne. The role requires punctuality, the ability to multitask, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Candidates must have a clean driving record and a valid, up-to-date driving licence.

Days per week: 4 on 4 off (10:00 – 18:00). Contract: Part Time and Permanent. Salary: £13.45 per hour + £2000 location allowance.

You will drive a medium wheeled van and will collect and drop off at the beginning and end of each shift. You must maintain the temperature control of the vehicle's fridge at all times and act as a representative of ALS to clients and staff at ALS sites.

Responsibilities
  • Drive a medium wheeled van; collect samples from Fairlee and deliver to Otterbourne, at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Maintain safe driving practices and adhere to traffic laws; demonstrate excellent driver behaviour standards.
  • Ensure the temperature control of the vehicle's fridge is maintained at all times.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and ALS staff.
  • Maintain flexibility on collection runs to accommodate additional requests and traffic delays.
  • Accurately complete paperwork, record van temperatures and manage sample consignments.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance (fluid top-up, cleaning).
  • Inform the Transport Manager of client issues or other pertinent information.
Essentials / Qualifications
  • Previous experience driving medium wheel base vans.
  • Good working knowledge of UK road networks.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexible, reliable, self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic and friendly disposition.
  • Ability to act on information and use initiative.
  • Ability to provide your own navigation; ALS can provide navigation if needed.
