We’re looking for a reliable, professional Sample Collection Driver to join our transport team. This is a key role supporting our laboratory operations—collecting samples from customer sites and delivering them safely and promptly, ensuring they arrive in excellent condition and within required timeframes. You’ll be a visible ambassador for ALS, representing our standards of safety, service and professionalism every day.
About the Position
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours per week: 45
- Working pattern: Monday to Friday (shift between 05:30 – 17:30)
- Annual salary: £29,063
- Areas covered: Aberdeen – Livingston to Fraserburgh
What You’ll Be Doing (Day to Day)
- Collect samples from client sites as requested and deliver to the laboratory within agreed timeframes
- Drive safely at all times—courteous to other road users and a great ambassador for ALS
- Maintain temperature control of the vehicle’s fridge to protect sample integrity
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with staff at client sites and ALS sites
- Remain flexible on routes to manage additional requests and traffic delays
- Carry out monthly swabbing on company vehicles
- Maintain a smart appearance for both driver and vehicle, projecting a positive public image of ALS
- Complete vehicle checks and basic upkeep (tyres, oil, water, general condition)
- Accurately complete paperwork in full and in a legible format
- Escalate any client issues or relevant updates to the Regional Transport Manager
About You (The Essentials)
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Strong adherence to road regulations and excellent driving behaviour
- Ideally, previous experience in a similar collection / multi-drop role
- Good working knowledge of UK road networks
- Strong communication skills and professional manner
- Flexible, reliable and self-motivated
- Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Able to use initiative and respond appropriately to information given
