As a Laboratory Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting microbiological testing processes that help ensure food safety and quality for our clients. About the Position
- Shift: 40 hours per week, Hours: 4 days on / 4 days off, Monday to Friday 08:45 - 21:00, Saturday 10:00 – 21:00, Sunday 09:45 – 21:00
- Salary: £25,834

- Contract: Full Time, Permanent
The day to day
- Perform microbiological testing on food samples, including weighing, diluting, and preparing samples using aseptic techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic workstation in line with departmental cleaning schedules.
- Prepare and supplement media, conduct volume checks, and operate laboratory equipment such as media preparators and pourer stackers.
- Ensure all samples are handled safely and accurately.
- Dispose of waste and clean utensils promptly to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to meet testing deadlines and departmental targets.

- Educated to A level (or equivalent) in a science-related subject – or with relevant laboratory experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining laboratory cleanliness and safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well within a team and respond positively to feedback.
- Reliable and punctual, with a flexible approach to working hours and changing priorities.
- Able to manage workload effectively and meet required deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates initiative, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude toward learning and improvement.
