ALS Inspection are looking for 2 Laboratory Technicians to support their Metals and Minerals Laboratory in Prescot, Knowsley. The successful candidate will have at least 1 minimum year of ICP experience. You will be responsible for ensuring procedures are followed to effectively and accurately test samples, and record results while maintaining ISO 17025 accreditations. The right candidate will have a keen eye for detail and be able to closely follow instructions.

Role Location: Prescot

Shift: Training Period (First 4 Weeks): Monday to Friday (07:30 - 16:00). Post Training Shifts: Rotating shifts of 06:00 - 14:00 and 13:30 - 21:30

Contract: Full Time & Permanent

Hours: 37.5

The Day to Day

  • Understanding of metals and minerals analysis in precious metals and base metals.
  • Carry out routine tasks accurately within QA guidelines.
  • Perform calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.
  • Routinely use laboratory balances for sample weighing.
  • Carry out routine analysis using standard laboratory equipment XRF, Auto titrators and ICP.
  • Develop knowledge of metals and minerals methodology and be able to understand the techniques used.
  • Aid in investigations relating to non-conforming work.
  • Perform housekeeping duties and calibrating equipment as required by the Departmental Manager.
  • Organise and plan daily workloads.
  • Promote good awareness of Health and Safety regulations relating to laboratory environment.
  • To store samples in accordance with the systems in place.

The Essentials

  • GCSEs achieved in English, Maths and Science.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory practices.
  • Working knowledge of LIMS desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with ICP instrumentation.
  • Previous experience within a team focused environment is desirable.
  • Have the ability to remain focused and work independently.
